Georges Irat

Automobiles Georges Irat SA was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

Georges Irat operation since 1914, the company Automobiles Irat in Paris, presented there, however, no vehicles here. In 1921 he founded the company Automobiles Georges Irat in Chatou and began the production of automobiles. The brand name was Georges Irat. During the 1920s, the annual production was about 200 vehicles. The company was located in 1929 in Neuilly -sur -Seine and from 1935 in Levallois -Perret. 1949 production ended. Georges Irat then ran the Société Chérifienne George Irat in Casablanca.

Models

The first model had its own four-cylinder engine of 2000 cc capacity. In 1927, a six-cylinder model with 3000 cc capacity to do so. From 1929 six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines from Lycoming were used. In 1935 a model with front-wheel drive to the motor 1100 cc came from Ruby. 1939, appeared a model with the engine from the Citroën Traction Avant 11 CV, which had 1911 cc displacement. During World War I, some vehicles were equipped with an electric motor.

1946 and 1949 appeared as a prototype vehicles with four-cylinder boxer engine with 1100 cc and light metal body which, however, did not go into mass production.

A vehicle of this make was to visit the Motor Technica Museum, Bad Oeynhausen, Bad Oeynhausen.

Success in Sport

  • A team of Georges Irat was the opening race of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923 at the start. Maurice Cappe and Jean Dourinau reached on a Georges Irat 4/A3 the 15th overall. By 1926, Georges- Irat vehicles were registered in this endurance race.
