Georges Leekens

Georges Leekens ( born May 18, 1949 in Mechelen) is a Belgian football manager and former player.

Career

Leekens began his professional career in 1970 with Crossing Schaerbeek. His keen tackling earned him the nickname " Mac the Knife ". In 1972 he moved to FC Bruges, where he played for nine years. During this time he was five times Belgian Champion and one Belgian Cup winners. He then played three years for the SK Sint- Niklaas, before he ended his playing career.

1984 Leekens started as a coach at Cercle Brugge, with which he is still in the same season won the Belgian Cup. In 1987 he moved to RSC Anderlecht, but was released in February 1988.
