Georges Sadoul

Georges Sadoul ( born February 4, 1904 in Nancy, † October 13th 1967 in Paris) was a French journalist and screenwriter.

Life

Sadoul was a journalist with the Lettres Françaises. He also wrote as a temporary member of the Surrealists for their journalistic organs. He is the author of l' Histoire générale du cinéma, a comprehensive work on the world cinema. He also wrote in 1961 Seghers with the filmmaker Georges Méliès. He was educated at the Sorbonne and the IDHEC. He is also known for the writing of encyclopedias about film and filmmakers, many of them have been translated into other languages.
