Georges Ulmer

Georges Ulmer ( born February 16, 1919 in Copenhagen, † September 29, 1989 in Marseille, Jørgen Frederik Ulmer actually ) was a French chanson writer and singer of Danish origin.

Georges Ulmer grew up in Spain, in 1939 he came to Paris. He was a member of the orchestra of Fred Adison and worked as an actor, writer and composer. Notoriety he achieved, however, especially as a singer and song writer. In 1946 he designed together with Géo Koger his most famous song " Pigalle ", which still ranks among the evergreens today. Many songs by him are influenced by the American folk music. In the 50s he became artistic in shades of Yves Montand, whose songs and vocal style were very similar. Many of his songs were adopted by other performers. In the 60s he moved to Cagnes -sur -Mer and it became increasingly quiet around him.
