Georges Van Vrekhem

Georges Van Vrekhem (* 1935) is a Flemish journalist, poet and playwright and was artistic director of the professional theater "Nederlands Toneel te Gent ".

In 1964, Van Vrekhem came with the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother in touch. In 1970 he joined the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry and Auroville moved to eleven years later. Georges Van Vrekhem translated selected writings of the Ramayana, the Mahabharata and books by Sri Aurobindo, the Mother, Peter Heehs and Satprem into Dutch.

Works

The book Voorbij de mens which is about the life and work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, was published in the Netherlands in 1995. The English translation, entitled Beyond Man was published in 1997 in India and translated into French, German, Italian and Spanish. The American version is by Paragon House, entitled Beyond the Human Species: The Life and Work of misplaced Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
