Georgeta Damian

Georgeta Andrunache, born Damian, ( born April 14, 1976 in Botosani, Botosani county ) is a Romanian rower and applies with 5 Olympic gold medals as one of the most successful athletes in their discipline.

Career

At the age of 13, she began with the Rowing. She studied physics and Sport at the University of George Bacovia Bacau. My home club is the CS Dinamo Bucharest. She is coached by Nicolae Gioga and is married.

On September 26, 2000, she won at the Olympic Summer Games 2000 in Sydney twice the gold medal. With her former partner Doina Ignat they won the two without tax woman against a team from Australia and the United States. In the premier class, the aft, her team was also able to win. She reached the success with Doina Ignat, Viorica Susanu, Mary Magdalene Dumitrache, Veronica Cochelea, Liliana Gafencu, Elena Georgescu, Elisabeta Lipa and Ioana Olteanu.

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, finally she won on August 21, 2004 together with her former partner in the aft Viorica Susanu again the gold medals in pairs without coxswain, and on August 22 in the eighth.

The medal was for rain but it is not over yet, even in Beijing at the 2008 Olympics, she could again win a gold medal with her rowing partner Viorica Susanu in two without tax woman in front of the Chinese women and White Russians. The following day, she won a bronze medal along with Ms Barabas, Constanţa Burcică, Doina Ignat, Simona Muşat, Ioana Papuc, Rodica Serban, Viorica Susanu and Elena Georgescu even in eighth.

After a three year break Andrunache returned in 2012 back to the regatta course and finished with Viorica Susanu third place at the World Cup in Munich. At the Olympic Games in London, the two occupied the fifth place.
