Georgi Sviridenko

Georgi Swiridenko ( born December 3, 1962 in Minsk) is a native of Belarus Handball players and Handball coach.

Playing career

The 1.85 meter tall qualified sports teacher played handball at the clubs SKA Minsk ( 1981-1990 ), CUS Palermo ( 1991-1993) and SV BW Spandau ( 1993-1995). With Minsk, he was several times Soviet Champion and won the European Champions Cup in 1987, 1989 and 1990 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1983 and 1988.

Swiridenko played 132 international matches for the Soviet national team and four Belarusian for the national team. His successes include the Junior World Champion title in 1983, the Olympic gold medal in 1988 and the Vice World Cup 1990.

Coaching career

As Handball He also coached the youth team of Belarus, Minsk SKA (1995-1996), SV BW Spandau (1996-2000), TV Grambke Bremen (2000-2003), foxes Berlin, the youth team Berlin, Dessau- Roßlauer HV, the HSG Dusseldorf and from July 2008 the Belarusian national team, where he worked as an assistant coach since February 2008. In July 2009, he was replaced as coach by Yuri Shevtsov. After the 2009/10 season at the HSG Dusseldorf, he joined the HSC 2000 Coburg. From the 2011/12 season coached Swiridenko third division Dessau- Roßlauer HV, where he has worked until 2007. His contract was not renewed in Dessau at the end of the season 2012/2013. Since 2013 he is the coach of the U23 team of VfL Gummersbach.

Private

Georgi Swiridenko is married and has two daughters. His daughter Alexandra playing handball at second division BVB foxes Berlin.
