History
The Georgian national basketball team was founded after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992. In contrast to the Russian national team, which was allowed to begin the direct successor of the successful Soviet selection, the Georgian selection had to qualify first through qualifying rounds to participate in finals tournaments.
