Georgia Rule

Georgia Rule ( engl. Georgia Rule ) is an American drama directed by Garry Marshall from the year 2007.

Action

Rachel Wilcox is 17 and has just graduated from high school, she lives with her mother Lilly and her stepfather in San Francisco. She leads a wild life and prepares her mother's numerous educational problems. It is therefore sent for the summer to Hull, a small town in Idaho, to her grandmother Georgia.

Rachel meets already on her first day Harlan, a young Mormon who takes on an important role in Rachel's new life with his strict and unwavering faith. Georgia lives according to strict rules. It accepts no blasphemies and ensures that Rachel goes to work. Rachel helps after initial Refuse, the local veterinarian Simon, her mother a former friend. He treats both animals and humans, which Rachel does not like the beginning.

During the festival, July 4, tells Rachel Simon, who has lost his wife and son in a car accident that she's since the age of twelve by her stepfather, the lawyer by profession, had been abused. He had only stopped when Rachel's friends have threatened him. Rachel has build a normal relationship with a man as a result of these experiences difficulties. Only Harlan against it can open. Harlan has already a girlfriend, so their relationship to each other is not straightforward. Simon turned now to Georgia, which informs Lilly. This does not seem to have been the intention of the unsettled Rachel because they ignorant of Simon claims to have invented the only provocative in conversation. Some time it is unclear what is truth and falsehood. Rachel's stepfather denies the fact and her mother can not decide on which side it is on. Rachel threatens it, her step-father in private that he should make her mother happy, she would not say anything and will not sue him.

The mother initially decides that Rachel lied and travels with her husband back to San Francisco. In the car, they however, noted that Rachel was telling the truth and immediately rises out of the car. Rachel is after it has been persuaded by Georgia to cooperate with Harlan, Simon and Georgia on the way to her mother to tell her the truth. Mother and daughter both fall into his arms. Harlan admits Georgia love for her granddaughter and tells her that he wanted to marry her after his two mission years.

Reviews

John Anderson wrote in the journal Variety of 8 May 2007, the film Am working as if Jerry Lewis had filmed a script by Ingmar Bergman. The theme was " grim ", the relationships shown were " rough", the belief was " bleak ", the film was a " blemished dramedy " ( " misshapen dramedy ").

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews, though the film is not the worst directorial effort by Garry Marshall, but he was a " sagging misfire ". His main problem was not that appeal many issues, but that he was doing it without " emotional honesty ". Lindsay Lohan WOULD believable in her role of promiscuous girl. One would be in the future especially remember in connection with the film, that the head of the production company Morgan Creek, James G. Robinson, Lindsay Lohan have been criticized for their poor work ethic.

Background

The film was shot in Los Angeles, in Monrovia ( CA ) Pasadena ( CA ), Santa Clarita (California ) and turned in Santa Paula ( California). His cost of production was estimated at 20 million U.S. dollars. The film played to 24 June 2007 in the cinemas of the United States about 18.9 million U.S. dollars. Worldwide he played a 24 million on DVD and he played about 17 million dollars, making a total of about 41 million U.S. dollars.

DVD Release

In Germany, the DVD was released the film in February 2008 under the title of Georgia law.
