In 2001 she won at the World Rowing Championships in Lucerne each one silver with the double sculls and quadruple sculls. Together with her sister, she won the gold medal in the double sculls at the 2002 World Championships in Seville and 2003 in Milan. Also with her sister, she was at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens Olympic champion.
At regained the world title in 2005 in Gifu followed bronze in 2006 and silver in 2007. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, the sisters delivered a tight duel with the German Anne Katrin Thiele and Christiane Huth, by a margin of one hundredth of a second they won the Football Ferns their second Olympic gold medal.
