Georgy Grammatikopulo

Georgi " Yuri " Sawwitsch Grammatikopulo (Russian Георгий Саввич Грамматикопуло; * 1930 in Sukhum, † 1992) is a former Soviet football player and coach.

Life and career

The football games began Grammatikopulo Georgi, who was also called " Yuri " at Dinamo Sukhumi in his home town on the Black Sea, where Nikita Simonyan played at that time. He was of Greek origin. In 1949, the striker Grammatikopulo to Dinamo Tbilisi, but remained there only until 1950 and remained goalless. Briefly, he played the small Spartak Tbilisi before he was obliged Dynamo Leningrad. There he played from 1952 to 1953, before he was hired by Dynamo Kiev. He spent five seasons with the Kiewern, where he completed 97 league games and scored 21 goals. In 1960 he went briefly back to Dinamo Tbilisi, but where he could not prevail. His career trailed off at his old club Dinamo Sukhumi.

Georgi Grammatikopulo operated thereafter as a coach. First Torpedo Kutaisi, later repeated at Dinamo Sukhumi, most recently 1989. 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union and during the civil war in Abkhazia, died Grammatikopulo.
