Georgy Petrov

Georgi Ivanovich Petrov (Russian Георгий Иванович Петров, scientific transliteration Georgy Ivanovich Petrov; ** 18 Maijul / May 31 1912greg in Pinega, .. † 13 May 1987) was a Soviet engineer.

From 1965 to 1973 Petrov was director of the Institute for Space Research of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

According to him, the following numerical methods are called, which are used in the numerical flow simulation to calculate:

  • Upwinding - Petrov- Galerkin method
  • Streamline Upwind Petrov- Galerkin method ( SUPG )
