Gérald de Palmas

Gérald de Palmas (born Gérald Gardrinier ) ( born October 14, 1967 in Saint- Denis in the overseas department of Réunion ) is a French singer and composer.

Life & Musical Career

Gérald de Palmas spent the first ten years of his life on Reunion, 1977 before his parents moved to France and settled in Aix -en- Provence. Even during the school learned de Palmas playing the guitar and the bass. After canceling his school career, he joined the group Les Valentine, with whom he published as Les Max Valentin's two singles. Dissatisfied with the lack of national success, de Palmas finally left the band and moved to Paris, where he worked as a session musician. His 1994 debut album, released La Dernière Année and the single release Sur la route brought him considerable success, so in 1995 he became honored as Best Male Newcomer. With the 1997 released second album Les lois de la nature but he landed a flop.

As a result of the failure of his second album is de Palmas pulled out of the public gaze, was little concerts and even wrote a few new songs. His contact with Jean -Jacques Goldman, with whom he wrote the song J'en rêve encore, helped de Palmas when composing of 10 additional pieces for his new album Marcher dans le sable, which was released in 2000. Another collaboration with the French artist Maxime Le Forestier under the title Tomber and the album were big hits in France, an extensive tour joined them. Tomber became a hit in an English cover version by Céline Dion as Ten days internationally. De Palma wrote in the aftermath some pieces for the Canadian singer as well as Johnny Hallyday, whose derived from Marie de Palmas piece was a big hit in France. 2002 Gérald de Palmas was named the best male singer. In the same year a live album and a live DVD of a successful touring published.

The follow-up album Un homme sans racines appeared in 2004. Disputes with his record company prevented as a consequence the release of the fifth album Sortir, which was not published until 2009. Except for the duet Pandora 's Box with Eagle - Eye Cherry de Palmas has composed and played all the songs on the album. In 2011 he published his first best-of compilation, on the second page some rare pieces, alternative and live versions are included.

Gérald de Palmas is married and has two children.
