Gerald Jatzek

Gerald Jatzek (born 23 January 1956 in Vienna) is an Austrian author, musician and journalist.

Life and work

He received his PhD in 1981 in the fields of journalism and education. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was a street musician and member of the business district of literature the world of work in Vienna. Since 1997 he is online editor of the Wiener Zeitung, for which he writes regularly on folk and world music. In addition to many children's books he wrote poems, radio plays for stations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland as well as children's theater pieces. Since 2004 he is a member of the cabaret "Echo of the homeland." He is also a programmer and journalist member of the online editors of the Wiener Zeitung. Gerald Jatzek is a member of the Graz author Assembly, the literature circle podium and the Federation of Austrian dialect writers. 2009 the choir cycle was the piñata ( compositions: Claudia Nicolai ) premiered at the Academy of Music in Darmstadt. In 2001 he was awarded the Austrian State Prize for Poetry for Children and the Austrian Children's Book Award. Musically, he has worked since 2011 with producer Thomas Raber.
