Gerald Kargl

Gerald Kargl (* 1953 in Villach) is an Austrian film director.

Life and work

After two short films and the short documentary Skiszenen with Franz Klammer, which he had designed in 1980 together with the two Polish directors Zbigniew Rybczyński and Bogdan Dziworski, 1983, under the title Fear Kargl out single feature film. In this he presented, based on the events surrounding Werner Kniesek, a man (played by Erwin Leder ) in the foreground who is released after a ten- year sentence for manslaughter for a parole from prison and the same shortly afterwards brutally murdered a family of three. The film was largely ignored and had for his lack of success too high a budget, so Kargl, who had financed the film entirely himself, since no other movie has turned. Nevertheless developed anxiety over the years into a secret and was released in 2007 on DVD. The special feature of this film is that it was cut and edited to the music. The music has been processed and are not used as a fashion accessory, but style icon. The soundtrack "Surrender " by Klaus Schulze composed and performed, appeared on the recorded in - studio InTeam Oldau and published in March 1984 album " Fear" (ID 20,003 ).

Kargl devoted by fear promotional and educational films. More recently, further educational films were added with larger parts of computer animation, such as the theory of relativity or quantum physics.

With Horst Dieter Sihler 1977, he was the initiator of the " Austrian Film Days".
