Geraldo Alves

Geraldo Washington Regufe Alves ( born November 8, 1980 in Póvoa de Varzim ), known as Geraldo ( Geraldo Alves also ), is a Portuguese footballer. He's since the summer of 2012 at Petrolul Ploiesti in the Romanian League 1 under contract.

Geraldo is the son of Brazilian Washington, who was also a footballer, and brother of gambling at Zenit St Petersburg Bruno Alves. Since his mother is Portuguese, he has, like his brother, the Portuguese citizenship.

Career

His career began Geraldo at Varzim SC, a club from his hometown. After one year brought him Benfica, for whom he has played in his youth. After spending the first two years in the reserve of the Glorioso, he came to the 2001/02 season in the professional squad. That same season, he moved to SC Beira- Mar, where he saw more perspectives. After he could not prevail there, he was transferred to the end of the season in the summer free transfer to Gil Vicente. After a disappointing year in 2003, he moved to FC Paços de Ferreira, where he remained four years and 90 times in the league aground ( nine goals).

In summer 2007, the defender moved for 400,000 € to AEK Athens in the Greek Super League. In the 2008 /09 season he lost his place to Daniel Majstorovic Sweden. His contract with AEK ran until 30 June 2010. He subsequently joined Steaua Bucharest in the Romanian League 1 where he won the Romanian Cup in 2011. In summer 2012 he left Steaua and joined the league rivals Petrolul Ploieşti.
