Black-eyed cranesbill (Geranium psilostemon )

The Black- cranesbill (Geranium psilostemon, Syn. Geranium armenum Boiss ) is one of the many species of plants of the Geranium Family ( Geraniaceae ). This species comes from the northeast Turkey and the southwestern Caucasus region and is often grown for its beautiful flowers as an ornamental plant in the garden. Due to the plant height, the ornamental plant usually requires a stay in the summer.

Description

It is an herbaceous plant that reaches the stature heights of up to 80 to 120 centimeters. The basal leaves are up to 20 centimeters wide and are divided into 7 sections. The leaf sections are lobed or toothed in the upper part deeply. The leaves are only slightly hairy, the upper parts of the stalk and the flowers are densely covered with glandular hairs. The striking magenta flowers with black center and black veins appear from June to August. The petals are up to 18 mm long and wide. The anthers are blackish, 2.5 to 3 mm large scar is dark purple.
