Gerard Batliner

Gerard Batliner ( born December 9, 1928 in Eschen ( Liechtenstein ), † June 25, 2008 ) was a Liechtenstein politician ( FBP), lawyer and publicist.

Life

Gerard Batliner studied law and philosophy at the University of Fribourg; In 1957, he was there to Dr. iur. doctorate. Since 1956, he worked alongside his political activities as a self -employed lawyer and publicist in Liechtenstein.

He was on 16 July 1962 to 18 March 1970 the head of government of the Principality of Liechtenstein. From 1974 to 1982 Batliner was a deputy in the Liechtenstein Parliament for the Progressive Citizens' Party and held in this period from 1974 to 1978 the office of President of Parliament, and from 1978 to 1982, the parliament of the Vice President. Then Batliner was from 1983 to 1990 Member of the European Commission of Human Rights.

He is the author of numerous books on the legal system of Liechtenstein. Batliner was involved in the Liechtenstein Institute.
