Gérard Collomb

Gérard Collomb ( born June 20 1947 in Chalon -sur -Saône, Saône -et -Loire ) is a French politician.

The founding member of the Socialist Party (PS) (founded in 1969) since 2001 has been mayor of the city of Lyon, the third largest city in France. In 2008 he was re-elected. During his tenure there came to urban redevelopment measures in Lyon and he introduced the so-called Vélo'v system. Prior to serving as mayor, he worked in various other political offices, including 1981 to 1988 as a member of the National Assembly. Since 2001 he is a member of the French Senate.
