Gerard Greene

Gerard Greene ( born November 12, 1973 in Kent ) is a Northern Irish snooker player.

Career

Greene has represented since 1993, and since then constantly on the professional snooker main tour. Although Greene was born in England, but plays for Northern Ireland. In 2005 he won the World Games, but in the absence of most of the top players in front of Ding Junhui and Björn Haneveer.

Greater success on a main tour tournament have included reaching the quarter-finals of the UK Championship in 1997, the LG Cup in 2002 and the British Open in 2003. During his way to the quarter finals of the British Open, he defeated Ali Carter, Ken Doherty and Joe Swail and then missed narrowest of margins the semi-finals after a 4:5 defeat against Ronnie O'Sullivan.

He qualified five times, for the Snooker World Championships (1999, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 ), never came at the Crucible Theatre, however, beyond the first round.

When Paul Hunter Classic in Fürth in 2013 he made it after beating Dominic Dale, Joe Swail and Allister Carter to the finals, it lost to Ronnie O'Sullivan with a white- wash of 0:4. In the PTC Grand Finals in 2014 he reached the finals for the first time in his career a full ranking tournament. There, however, he was defeated Barry Hawkins 0-4.
