Gerard Koel

Hendrik Gerard Koel ( born January 16, 1941 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch cyclist.

1964 Gerard Koel won at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the team pursuit bronze medal, together with Jaap Oudkerk, Henk Cornelisse and Cor Schuuring. Twice he was Dutch champion in the sprint and in 1970 national champion in scratch over 50 kilometers. Koel also launched in 47 six-day races, of which he won two: 1967 in Madrid with Jan Janssen and 1973 in Antwerp with René Pijnen and Leo Duyndam.

After the completion of his cycling career Gerard Koel has worked as a driver for the broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS ) during the Tour de France.
