Gerbrand van den Eeckhout

Gerbrand van den Eeckhout ( born August 19, 1621 Amsterdam, † September 22, 1674 ) was a Dutch painter.

Gerbrand van den Eeckhout, son of a goldsmith, was with Rembrandt in teaching. He was a highly gifted and Govert Flinck, Ferdinand Bol and far superior. His style is similar to the Rembrandts of all its students the most. Van den Eeckhout had numerous styles. He painted portraits, genre paintings and mainly historical paintings. He also provided designs for book illustrations and ornamental prints. As a colorist van den Eeckhout is original.
