Gerd Nagel

Gerd Nagel ( born October 22, 1957 in Sulingen, district Diepholz ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympian, who - starting for the Federal Republic - at the European Championships 1982 bronze medal in the high jump won (2.24 m).

At the Olympic Games in 1984, he retired injured in the battle from qualification (2.18 m), at the World Athletics Championships 1987, he was ranked 14 (2.20 m).

Improved nail on 9 June 1979 with international high jump meeting in Eberstadt, together with Carlo Thränhardt and Dietmar Mögenburg the German record of the Federal Republic of 2.26 m to 2.30 m. For the first time in the world jumped three competitors in a competition over 2.30 m. In 1979 he was in the Federal Republic of German masters (2.30 m).

Nail started for the LG Frankfurt. In his playing days, he was 1.88 m tall and 74 kg.

Gerd Nagel operates a gym in his hometown Sulingen.

For his services to the sport in Lower Saxony, he was inducted into the Honor Gallery of Lower Saxony Sports of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History.
