Gerd-Volker Schock

Gerd -Volker shock ( born April 8, 1950 in Bad Schwartau ) is a former German football player and football coach.

Playing career

The attacking midfielder Gerd -Volker shock began his football career in 1969 as an amateur player contract at VfB Lübeck. In the following years he also played with Sperber Hamburg and 1st FC Phönix Lübeck, before moving to VfL Osnabrück in 1974 in the 2nd Bundesliga. For this club, he completed 205 matches and scored 95 goals.

Then in 1979 he was obliged Arminia Bielefeld for a transfer fee of 350,000 marks. With this club he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga in his first season. In the first division, he completed 57 games and scored 23 goals. In 1983 he moved back to VfL Osnabrück in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the short term he took over the team during the season as player-coach, but could not prevent the descent of the association.

Coaching career

He then began his coaching career in 1984 as a youth and amateur coach of Hamburger SV. Later, the role of assistant coach under Willi Reimann was conferred on him at the professional team of the club. Shock triggered Reimann on January 5, 1990 as head coach from. After initial successes, he reached with his team a UEFA Cup place, he was dismissed as head coach on 10 March 1992 after a 0-2 home defeat against 1 FC Nuremberg. In his time as Bundesliga coach he reached 28 wins, 22 draws and 24 defeats.

In the short term he again took over the care of the youth player of Hamburger SV, before In 1993, as head coach for TuS Hoisdorf in the Oberliga Nord. After three years he returned to the Oberliga Hamburg SV to take over the task of the amateur trainer. He took this task only briefly, as there were disputes with the then coach of the professional team, Felix Magath.

From 1996 to 1998 shock was then working as a sports manager at VfL Osnabrück (Regional ). In 1998 he took over as coach at the club and led the team to the championship. He had his work but because of a hearing loss during an ascent to the 2nd Bundesliga game against the Chemnitz FC in the summer of 1999 to retire. From 2002 to 2004 shock was coach at Holstein Kiel in the Regionalliga Nord. Due to several acute hearing loss, he handed over his position in 2004.

2009 Gerd -Volker shock was included in the Jahrhundertelf VfL Osnabrück. On the position of center forward, he stood up to 2nd place Addi cousin and Thomas Reichenberger.
