Gerda Hasselfeldt

Gerda Hasselfeldt (nee Rainer, * July 7, 1950 in Straubing ) is a German politician (CSU ).

She was from 1989 to 1991 Federal Minister for Regional Planning, Building and Urban Development and from 1991 to 1992 Federal Minister for Health. From 2005 to 2011 she was Vice President of the German Bundestag, since March of 2011, she is Chair of the CSU group.

Life and career

Gerda Hasselfeldt grew up in Haibach in the Bavarian Forest ( Lower Bavaria ) on a farm with butcher shop and inn. Her father Alois Rainer senior (1921-2002) was mayor. Later he was also on the Landtag and from 1965 to 1983 the German Bundestag. Her younger brother Alois was also mayor and member of parliament. After graduation in 1969 Gerda Hasselfeldt graduated in economics at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich and the University of Regensburg, where she graduated in 1975 with a degree in economics. It was then up to 1987 assistant at the Federal Employment Service, most recently from 1985 as Head of vocational guidance in the labor office Deggendorf.

Gerda Hasselfeldt is Catholic, married his second wife, the former member of the Bundestag Wolfgang Zeitlmann and mother of two children.

Party

Gerda Hasselfeldt occurred in 1969, the CSU and was from 1989 the CSU Board of. From 1995 to 2005 she was chairman of the CSU district association Fürstenfeldbruck and 1991-1995 state chairman of the Women's Union in Bavaria.

In August 2005, she was appointed to the team of experts of the CDU / CSU for the early Bundestag elections in 2005 for agriculture, consumer protection and the environment.

On July 18, 2009 Hasselfeldt was elected to the board of the CSU.

Member of Parliament

Gerda Hasselfeldt belonged from 1978 to 1989 the county council of the county of rain, from 1996 to 2004 the council of the district Fürstenfeldbruck.

Gerda Hasselfeldt is then always drawn in 1987 on the state list of Bavaria and as directly elected representatives of the constituency Fürstenfeldbruck in the Bundestag. In the 2005 federal election it achieved 55.5 %, in 2009 48.9% and in the general election in 2013 55.6 % of the primary vote.

In succession of the Interior appointed Hans -Peter Friedrich, she was elected on 14 March 2011 as the first woman to chair of the CSU group in the Bundestag. On April 13, 2013, it was elected the first woman as the top candidate of the CSU for a general election and led the CSU so in the general election campaign of 2013.

Public offices

At a cabinet reshuffle, she was appointed as Federal Minister for Regional Planning, Building and Urban Development in the run of Chancellor Helmut Kohl Federal Government on 21 April 1989. After the 1990 federal election the FDP called for a strengthened this position for Irmgard Schwaetzer. Gerda Hasselfeldt was then appointed on 18 January 1991 the Federal Minister for Health. On 5 May 1992, she resigned from this office back again when reasons were disputes with the Chancellor and the allegation that her most important counselor working as an agent for the Polish secret service.

Honors

Gerda Hasselfeldt is since June 20, 2001 winner of the Bavarian Order of Merit.
