Gerda Weissensteiner

Gerda Steiner White ( born January 3, 1969 in Bolzano ) is a former Italian luger and Bobfahrerin. The South Tyrolean won the gold medal for Italy at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer sledding. In 2006, she won in her home with Jennifer Isacco the Olympic bronze medal in the two-man bob.

Sports

The South Tyrolean Gerda Steiner White won the gold medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer sledding. From CONI was thus awarded at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Nagano in 1998 with the honor of the flag bearer.

In 1998 Weißensteiner back from the active sport of luge. In 2001, she started with partner Antonella Bellutti ( Olympic gold medalist in cycling ) her second career in bobsleigh. With Bellutti Weißensteiner won seventh place at the 2002 Olympic Games. From the season 2002/ 03 Jennifer Isacco was her brakeman. With it, they finally again won at the Olympic Games in Turin in 2006 a bronze medal before she ended her successful career after the games in their own country.

She trains now the toboggan young and her home country is spokeswoman for the Luge Federation.

Weißensteiner lives in Steinegg in the community Karneid.

Gerda Steiner White is one of the few athletes who were able to celebrate World Cup victories in two different winter sports, as they luge on 22 November 2002 won the World Cup race in the two- by several World Cup victories.
