Geretsberg

Gerets Mountain is a rural community with 1,100 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Innviertel in Upper Austria. The competent court is the district court district Mattighofen until 2004, the village belonged to the district court Wildshut.

Geography

Gerets mountain is 495 meters above sea level in Innviertel. The extension is from north to south and 9 km from west to east 7.5 km. The total area is 37.52 km ², of which 68.9 percent are forested and 27.1 percent is used for agriculture. The community is geographically the sixth- largest municipality in the district of Braunau am Inn in Upper Innviertel and extends between the Weilhartsforst and the Ibm Moor. The moraine landscape of Geretsberg was mainly influenced by the Salzach glacier in the last Ice Age, which lasted until after Gerets mountain. Terminal moraines of this glacier form a terrain edge that runs through the entire municipality. One of the highest elevations of this is the summit mountain whose south side provides a clear view from the mountains to hell in the Bavarian Alps.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Geretsberg, teaching mountain and Werberg.

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then " Innbaiern " ) to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria. After the "Anschluss " of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

In the eastern part of the Weilhart Forst excavation at a coin from the middle Roman period was found in 1953.

Parish

In Gerets mountain there is a Gothic church (Roman Catholic ), which was built in the second half of the 15th century and is dedicated to Peter and Paul. It was conducted from 1956 to 2008 by the late Michael Haslinger consistory. From 1 September 2008, was pastor Ferdinand Oberdorfer competent pastors and was supported by deacon Leopold Esterbauer. On September 1, 2010 Markus Klepsa took over the parish. He is pastor of eggelsberg and Geretsberg.

Education

In Gerets mountain there is a primary school with currently four years and three teachers. Projects are "Healthy school snack ", Swimming ( each child has at least a semblance of swimming ÖJRK when it comes from the elementary school ) and "Reading is back to" voluntarily and flute lessons and introduction to the computer.

Culture and sights

The most important cultural institutions of the community is the Trachtenmusikkapelle Gerets mountain. Founded in 1924, it celebrated 22 to 24 May 2009 her 85 -year anniversary with march music review. The Chapel hosts first attempted at the highest level "E" and has reached 93.15, the highest score. In the championship games in Uttendorf 24 October 2009 an excellent success was also achieved in the Konzertwertung under Kapellmeister Georg Fuchs with 91.00 points for the first time.

Sports

In 1991, the municipality had 1084 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1063 inhabitants on 1 January 2007 then 1154 inhabitants.
