Gergely Kiss

Gergely " Geri " Kiss ( born September 21, 1977 in Budapest) is a Hungarian water polo player.

The two- meter man belongs to the generation of Hungarian water polo player who was able to build on the great successes of the 1950s from the 1990s. Since 1997, the left-handed than right-wing regulars of the Hungarian national team. He was 1997 and 1999 European champion, 1998, he became vice world champion.

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he became Olympic champion in 2001 and 2003 he finished third at the European Championships and won the 2003 world title. In Athens at the Olympic Games in 2004 his performance was crucial game for the final victory over the team from Serbia - Montenegro. With a hat-trick in the second quarter, he brought his team approach, in the last quarter, he threw the winning goal. Together with Tamás Kásás he was elected to the All- Star team for the Olympic Games.

In 2005 he won silver at the World Championships. Also in the 2006 European Championship and the World Cup 2007, he was with the team second and each received silver. At the 2008 European Championships in Malaga (Spain ) Kiss was 3rd with the Hungarian national team. In addition, he was voted best player of the tournament. At the Olympic Games in 2008, the Hungarians won the finals against the team from the United States. For Kiss it was the third Olympic victory in a row.

From 1997 to 2001 he played in Italy for Napoli and Bologna, since 2001 he is at BHSE Domino in Budapest, with this club he was from 2002 to 2006 every year master in the Hungarian professional league.

Kiss is married to Anna 's Water Valkai and has two daughters. In addition to his professional career, he studied law at the University of Budapest.
