Gerhard Damköhler

Gerhard Damköhler (* 1908, † 1944) was a German chemist.

Damköhler had founded in the years 1936-1944 the Chemical Reaction Engineering at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in Göttingen.

According to him, the Damköhler number is named, a dimensionless parameter, which denotes the ratio of the rate constants of reaction rate constants for a convective mass transfer.

In addition, of the German Association of Chemical and Process Engineering ( DVCV ) is given an Gerhard Damköhler medal.
