Gerhard Kofler

Gerhard Kofler ( born February 11, 1949 in Bolzano, † November 2, 2005 in Vienna) was a writer from South Tyrol. He wrote poetry and essays in Italian and German.

Life

Kofler grew up in Brixen, studied German and Romance studies in Innsbruck and Salzburg and lived as a writer and literary critic as well as Secretary General of Graz Writers meeting in Vienna.

Numerous publications, including the extensive collections of poetry, poetry of the sea and the earth in 2000 and poetry of the sea, earth and sky - Poetry di mare, terra e cielo 2003 Last -. Posthumously in 2007 - Publisher appeared in Klagenfurt Wieser exclusively in Italian written note book on New York from a distance with German translation by Leopold Federmair.

Gerhard Kofler translated poems u.a of H.C. Artmann, Gerald Bisinger, Ernst Jandl, Mayröcker and Gerhard Ruhm into Italian. Translated from the Italian Kofler et al Umberto Saba, Aldo Palazzeschi and Domenico Starnone.

His poems have been translated into English, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovenian, Romanian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, translated Dutch and Arabic.

On 2 November 2005 Gerhard Kofler died in Vienna from cancer and was the final resting place of an honorary dedicated by the City of Vienna 's grave in the cemetery Ottakringerstraße (group 2, number 7, number 1 A).
