Gerhard Mauz

Gerhard Mauz ( born November 29, 1925 in Tübingen, † 15 August 2003 Reinbek ) was a German journalist and Rapporteur of numerous trials of the post-war period.

Mauz was the son of the psychiatrist and T4 appraiser Frederick Mauz. He studied psychology, psychopathology and philosophy. His journalistic career began in radio and in the newspaper Die Welt. From 1964 until his retirement in 1990, he was on the editorial board of the news magazine Der Spiegel, after which he wrote as a freelance writer for his old sheet, Spiegel Online and the Berlin Tagesspiegel.

His work had an impact on his object of observation, the judiciary. In 1973, the Federal Cross of Merit he was awarded the band for his journalistic contributions to the judicial system.
