Gerhard Pohl

Gerhard Pohl ( born August 16, 1937 in Guben, † May 30, 2012 at Jessern in Schwieloch ) was a German engineer and CDU deputy in the parliament of the GDR. He was from April to August 1990 Minister of Economy of the GDR.

Life

Born the son of a Webmeisters Gerhard Pohl completed an apprenticeship as a draper. 1955 to 1958 he studied at the School of Engineering of Textile Technology in Forst ( Lausitz), graduating as an engineer for textile technology. From 1959 to 1967 he worked as a general assistant, technologist in the United VEB Feintuch forestry works, works. A distance learning at the Technical University of Dresden, he finished in 1969 as a graduate engineer economist. Since 1977 worked as director of research and product development, took place in 1978 his doctorate in economics. From 1986 to 1990 Pohl was first deputy operations director at VEB Forster cloth factories.

The political path Pohl began with the entry into the CDU of the GDR in 1958. Since 1972, Pohl was a member of the board of the CDU district association Forst ( Lausitz). In 1989 he was briefly on the CDU party executive of the German Democratic Republic. From 1981 to 1990 Gerhard Pohl was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR.

On April 12, 1990 Pohl was appointed as minister of economy in the led by Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière Council of Ministers of the GDR.

After he had been given the blame for the economic misery in the GDR, he asked for his dismissal. This offer resignation took de Maizière on 22 August 1990.

After the turn was Gerhard Pohl managing partner of a firm for the development of finished plastics in Forst / Lausitz. He was also Chairman of the Forster draper eV

Gerhard Pohl was an avid sailor. Since 1959 member of the association " sailors Community Schwieloch " was in Jessern. On 30 May 2012, he was lifeless found in Schwieloch.
