Gerhard Raff

Gerhard Raff ( born August 13, 1946 in Stuttgart -Degerloch ) is a German historian, writer and publisher.

Life

Study

Gerhard Raff studied history and Protestant theology at the University of Tübingen and received his doctorate there in 1984 with Hans Martin Decker -Hauff with a thesis on the origins of the House of Württemberg in 1988 under the title "Hie good Wirtemberg evermore I: The house Württemberg of Count Ulrich the Donors to Duke Ludwig "was published and was continued in the following years so far with two follow-up volumes. A fourth band announced Raff at the end of 2009.

Freelance writer

Gerhard Raff is a freelance writer in Stuttgart- Degerloch. For his Swabian stories published in the Stuttgarter Zeitung and 1985 under the title "Lord, throw brain ra! " Published as a book, he was honored in the same year with the Squidward Troll price. Today, he writes for the same paper the column " Raff rarities " which is published weekly. Since 2003, he writes monthly for the Protestant community newsletter for seasoning.

Proceeds from his works and from his many lectures he donates regularly for cultural and social projects throughout the world. The Pilgrimage Gerhard Raff donated a pilgrim hostel in La Faba. With his fee for " More Brain! " And fundraisers presented Raff over 1.25 million D- Mark for the renovation of the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Brandenburg an der Havel available. Income from his book " Iron Ration for fearless and loyal Württemberg " are intended for the restoration of Ulm Minster.

Since 2004 he is member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the journal " Suevica - Contributions to the Swabian literature and intellectual history ."

Committee of the Staufer friends

Since 2002 he is involved with the Committee of the Staufer friends to win donor for he initiated with Staufer stelae commemorating the Staufer. Meanwhile, more than twenty of these 4.5 ton created by sculptor Markus Wolf monuments in Italy, Germany, France, Austria and the Czech Republic have been set up. About twenty other stelae are already donated, waiting for their realization.
