Gerhard Seibold

Gerhard Seibold ( born May 13, 1943 in Klosterneuburg ) is a former Austrian canoeist. He took part in 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won a bronze medal.

In the Canoe World Championships in 1966 in East Berlin Austria won in four kayak over 1000 meters behind the Romanian boat the silver medal with Günther Pfaff, Kurt Lindlgruber, Helmut Hediger and Gerhard Seibold. Two years later, at the 1968 Olympic Games took the quad in the same occupation in seventh place. Seibold and Pfaff but won bronze in the double kayak over 1000 meters behind the boats from the Soviet Union and Hungary.

At the World Championships 1970 in Copenhagen Günther Pfaff and Gerhard Seibold won on the 1000 meter course and occupied more than 500 meters in third place. The replacement of the four-year cycle to the annual rhythm again found in 1971 world championships; Pfaff and Seibold won silver in Belgrade over 1000 meters. At the Olympic Games in 1972 Seibold approached only in quad kayak, but already retired from the lead.

In 1996 he received the Golden Medal of Merit of the Republic of Austria.
