Gerlosberg

Gerlos is a municipality with 471 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.

Geography

Gerlos Mountain is located east of pipe mountain. In the south, the municipality of Gerlosbach is limited, which flows in a deep gorge. In the north it extends up to 2558 m high Kreuzjoch. The settlement extends over a gently rising slope with often widely scattered farms.

History

Gerlos mountain was first documented as a " Gerlaisperch " in 1237. Today's farms and hamlets go back to former Schwaighöfe that have been created according to plan since the 12th century by various landlords.

How to pipe mountain and in Hainzenberg there are still traces of its former gold mining.
