Germaine Mason

Germaine Mason ( born January 20, 1983 in Kingston) is a British high jumper of Jamaican origin.

At the Junior World Championships in 2000 and 2002, he won a silver and a bronze medal. At the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003 he was able to win the gold medal and scored a fifth place for himself at the World Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis. The following year, he won the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest. A patellar ligament prevented participation in the Olympic Games in Athens.

As he paused in the following year at international championships, he could start from 2006 for Britain, whose nationality he possesses in addition to the Jamaican, as his father David was born in London. At the European Championships in Gothenburg and the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, however, he resigned from in qualifying.

In the 2008 Olympics he won the silver medal and equaled it with 2.34 meters, his best performance of the year 2003.

Germaine Mason is 1.94 meters tall. He starts for the Birchfield Harriers in Birmingham, where he is coached by Sue Humphrey.
