German Antarctic North Victoria Land Expeditions
GANOVEX (abbreviation for " German Antarctic Expedition Northern Victoria Land " ) refers to a series of Antarctic expeditions of the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources. The first expedition ( GANOVEX I) was carried out in 1979. The tenth and so far last expedition, GANOVEX X, took place from mid-December 2009 to mid February 2010. Bases of expeditions include the Gondwana Station in Terra Nova Bay and Lillie Marleen Hut at Lillie Glacier. The aim of the expedition is, among other things, to explore the breakup of the supercontinent Gondwana and the development of the Antarctic continent.
