German Athletics Championships
The German Athletics Championships for various disciplines of athletics will be held annually. In each discipline, a German champions will be crowned in the men and in the women's class.
Most disciplines are represented in a central competition. Except for this, the disciplines Seven and decathlon, the 10,000 -meter run, the road runs ( see List of German champion in the marathon and List of German champions in the road race ), as well as the 20 - and 50 - kilometer walk.
Women took part for the first time in 1920 at the German Championships. Between 1925 and 1933 their competitions were carried out separately from the men. During the German division took place in the GDR 1948-1990 own championships.
