The breed spread throughout northern and central Germany.

Since 1958 Holstein cattle were bred into the breed in the Federal Republic of Germany for the first time. Since the 1960s, this introgression could prevail, and there was the German Holstein Cattle.

In the GDR, the breed Black Colorful dairy cattle (SMR ) was calculated from the Holstein-Friesian lowland beef with the Jersey cow and the Holstein cattle bred. The original breeding direction of the Holstein-Friesian cattle lowland was obtained in the GDR as a gene reserve. Individual breeders in the Federal Republic and breeders in the Netherlands could also get the original type of cattle.

In South America, from the Friesian was the Dutch - Argentine beef.
