German champions (baseball)

The list of German Baseball Champion contains the German masters of the assets of the German Baseball and Softball Association DBV. A German Baseball Championship for women do not exist, they play their champions in baseball variant of softball.

Giants are the Mannheim Tornados with a total of 11 championship titles, current champions are the Heidenheim Heideköpfe. Five different clubs from Mannheim celebrated to date 24 championships, so the city is also a record holder. More cities with multiple clubs as champions in Munich and Cologne.

Post-war period until the foundation of the Bundesliga

Unofficial Championships (1946 - 1951)

Since the DBV until 1951 as "Amateur Baseball Federation Germany " founded, were until then been played Championships all unofficial nature. Until the formation of the DBV, the teams were mainly company teams of the U.S. military, the playing off their games in an American League in Germany. The first championship of German teams took place in 1951, but also as an unofficial championship.

During this time the Berlin Babe Ruth Flyers could ( named after the legendary MLB player Babe Ruth ) win five titles in a row, in 1951 they finished 2nd place.

First official championships (1952 - 1970)

As of 1952, official German Baseball Championships were held. First track carrier was thereby founding the oldest baseball club in Germany, the Frankfurt Juniors, by a 8:1 victory in Frankfurt against the Munich Panthers. This success, the team could be followed by two more titles in the next three years. In 1956 the championships but of different Mannheimer clubs ( Knights, TB Germania and AFR) were dominated with ten championships until 1970. This series could be interrupted only by teams from Munich and Darmstadt.

Failure of the German Championships (1971 - 1981)

Baseball Championships from 1982

Revival of German baseball, establishing the Bundesliga and Mannheim dominance (1982 - 1997)

Dominance of the North and the Paderborn Untouchables (1998 - 2006)

With the title of Cologne Dodgers 1998, the dominance of the Mannheim Tornados ended. Henceforth, should take the lead role in baseball teams from the Bundesliga North Germany. Return of the South and balanced league (2007 - present)
