German Design Award
The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany (DBD ) - often called ' German Design Award ' - since 2002, the highest award of the Federal Republic award for outstanding design in Germany. It is the successor of the Design Award Good Design 1969 to 2001. Do NOT be confused with the private sector design award " German Design Award ".
The DBD is awarded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The award ceremony takes place every year in February.
Modalities
Participants are nominated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology or the respective state ministries for this - and if they have only previously won another national or international design prize. Therefore, the award is also known as "the prize of prizes ". You can not even apply for the award themselves.
On the allocation chosen by an independent and expert jury consisting of ten members. It is composed of representatives from industry, academia, design and media. You will be appointed for a term of four years by the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology.
Like many other design awards also brings this to the participants no prize money with him; he is chargeable on the contrary. The price was so in the professional community in the criticism triggered by an open letter to the nominated designer Juli Gudehus.
The orientation of the price was up to the year 2011 by the Design Council and was first taken over by the organizers DMY Berlin as part of a re-tendering in 2012.
