German Globetrotter Club

The German National Globetrotter eV ( dzg ), with about 800 members in 23 countries, the largest non-material and non-commercial community of globe-trotters in Europe and the oldest Globetrotter club alongside the English Globetrotters Club.

History

1974 founded Ludmilla Tüting, Friedemann von Engel, Lutz Fehling, Norbert Denninghaus, Erich Drönner, Peter Fritze, Werner Göcke, Wolfgang Köhler, Reinhold Korte and Hannelore Vasel the club. Modelled on the incorporated in England in 1948 Globetrotters Club. Idea and the name came from Ludmilla Tüting that to Tierra del Fuego indicated the first German Central Office for globetrotters in the imprint in their classic 1972 Globetrotter Manual From Alaska. Objectives

Publications

Since 1996, the dzg runs a website. Globetrotter meeting

Since 1974, organized the dzg Globetrotter meeting in Germany. The annual summer meeting last weekend in June will take place in Hachenburg / Westerwald. From the Reise Know-How Verlag emerged. The Peter Meyer acts independently since 1991 and was the world's first who provided his travel books with handle brands. The members Udo Schwark and Gisela Walther were the first to introduce the Lonely Planet guide book translated from English and after 1981 in Gisela Walther laid publisher. Also the founder of the publishers Stefan Loose, Michael Mueller, Conrad Stein were members of dzg.

A number of other members became known after they sold travel gear and this sector now dominate. So opened Klaus and Erika Därr 1975 expedition equipment in Munich, the first store of Globetrotter scene. Wolfgang Maas and Gerhardt Lauche founded in Munich in 1976 expedition equipment Lauche and Meuse. Klaus Denart founded in 1979 Globetrotter equipment in Hamburg as the first North German outfitter store and is now the largest travel supplier in Europe.
