The German Longhair (also German Longhair ) is recognized by the FCI German breed (FCI Group 7, Section 1.2, Standard No. 117).
Origin and History
The German Longhair is a descendant of the medieval hawk and quail dog ( hound ), which were crossed with the French Epagneul. In the 16th century it appears as the Epagneul in Germany and since then has been very common especially in northern Germany. The German Longhair is a representative of the versatile German Pointers. It is closely related to the Great Munsterlander. Because of disagreements over the color of the dog ( brown on German long-haired, black -and-white at Large Munsterlander ), the breeding of the two races separated in the early 20th century.
