German School of Athens

The German School of Athens (DSA ) is a German school abroad. The German School of Athens was founded in 1896 by the famous archaeologist Wilhelm Dörpfeld. In terms of meeting school and with the perspective of a modern and contemporary education about 950 students are taught by German and Greek teachers at the DSA.

Structure and Organisation

Based in the suburb of Marousi community school is in private ownership, maintaining body is the German School Association Athens. It consists of a German department with complete primary and secondary education and a Greek department with a gymnasio and a Lýkio.

The German department finishes with the final examination after the 12th grade, the school policies from Thuringia are relevant.

Students get the Greek department after 12 school year the Greek secondary school leaving certificate. In addition, the students also get a high school after passing a supplementary examination. For the purpose of language acquisition, some subjects in the Greek department are taught in German, but the curricula are the same as regular Greek schools.

As in other German schools abroad a part of the college for a limited period is recruited from Germany.
