The German Society for Stem Cell Research ( GSZ ) sees itself as representing the interests of researchers in the field of adult and embryonic stem cells in Germany.

Foundation

The club was founded in 2003 on the initiative of Jürgen Hescheler; Hescheler is Professor of Neurophysiology at the Hospital of the University of Cologne and received in January 2003, the second approval by the Stem Cell Act "on the subject of comparative studies of human and murine embryonic stem cells".

The Company operates as a charitable organization, financially and politically independent and 14639 registered at the register of the local court of Cologne under the banner of the Board since November 4, 2004. Members of society are well-known researchers and teachers at German universities and non-university institutions.

Purpose of the company

The company represents the interests of its members in scientific, medical and ethical issues and operates public relations for this area of ​​research. It promotes stem cell research, supports the training of young acts in the exchange of scientists at national and international level, supported publications and organizes conferences and seminars. The association wants nationwide focus the hitherto loose network of scientists in a platform for stem cell research and be more competent and independent consultant for all aspects of stem cell research.
