U 120 was a German submarine Type II B, which was used in World War II by the German Navy.

History

The contract for the boat was awarded on 28 August 1937, Flender -Werke, Lübeck. The keel was laid on 31 March 1938 the launching on March 16, 1940 to the putting under Lieutenant Ernst Bauer on April 20, 1940.

The boat belonged after his commissioning as a school boat U- Boat Schulflottille in Kiel, which was renamed on 1 July 1940 in 21 U- Flotilla and moved to pillau, and then on March 17, 1945 until May 5, 1945 training boat for 31 U- flotilla in Hamburg.

U 120 was a pure education and training boat and took no patrols.

Whereabouts

The boat was sunk on 5 May 1945 in Wesermünde in Operation Rainbow by the crew itself. The boat was lifted in 1949 and scrapped in November 1950.
