U 201 was a German U- Boat Type VII C. With respect to the name of the first commanders of the Knight 's Cross holder Lieutenant Adalbert snow, two snowmen were on the tower of U 201 painted. The boat also wore the coat of arms of the city of Remscheid Godfather front of the tower.

History

The boat was put into service on 25 January 1941 and was part of the first U- Flotilla. Commander of the boat was up to the August 24, 1942 Lieutenant Adalbert snow. On August 25, 1942 Günther Rosenberg took over the command on U 201

Inserts

In nine patrols U 201 sank 22 merchant ships with a tonnage of 103 355 GRT and two warships with 5,700 t. The largest of U 201 sunk ship was the unarmed British passenger liner Avila Star ( 14,443 GRT), which was sunk on July 5, 1942 east of the Azores with three G7 torpedoes. 84 people were killed. Another of U 201 sunk the British passenger ship was the Aguila ( Lage49.383333 - 17.933333 ) the shipping company Yeoward Line, at the Fastnet sinking ago on August 19, 1941 killed 157 passengers and crew members.

Sinking

Beginning in February 1943 discovered U 69, a boat the submarine group warhorse, the convoy ONS 165 in the western North Atlantic.
