German Sveshnikov

German Aleksandrovich Sveshnikov (Russian Герман Александрович Свешников, born May 11, 1937 in Gorky, † June 9, 2003 in Nizhny Novgorod ) was a Soviet fencer who erfocht with the foil two Olympic gold medals and nine world championship titles.

His first international medal winning Sveshnikov at the World Fencing Championships in 1958 when he won the silver medal with the Soviet team. A year later, began at the World Fencing Championships 1959, the series of victories of the Soviet team, which lasted until the World Fencing Championships in 1966 and Olympic gold medals in 1960 in Rome and 1964 Tokyo included.
