German Township is one of 14 townships of Auglaize County in the U.S. state of Ohio. According to the census in 2000 3831 inhabitants were registered here.

Geography

German Township is located in the southwest of the Auglaize counties in northwest Ohio and bordered clockwise to the townships: Saint Marys Township, Van Buren Township, Shelby County, McLean Township ( Shelby County), Jackson Township, Marion Township, Mercer County and Franklin Township ( Mercer County).

History

The German Township is one of five townships of the same name in Ohio. Formerly it was formed as part of Mercer County, and included the area of Jackson Township, to its elimination in 1858.

Management

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two persons are elected in the year after the presidential election and one each in the previous year. The term of office lasts four years, beginning on 1 January. There is also a Township Clerk (Secretary), who is also elected in the year before the presidential election to a four -year term. Whose term of office begins on April 1.
