Germano Almeida

Germano Almeida ( born 1945 on the island of Boa Vista ) is a Cape Verdean writer, publisher and lawyer.

Almeida first studied law at the University of Lisbon and practiced as a lawyer in Mindelo on the Cape Verde island of São Vicente. He is married to Sam Stewart since 1970.

His literary work includes over a dozen novels and short story collections, one of which in Germany in particular, " The will of the Lord Napumoceno " ( original: " O testamento do Senhor da Silva Araújo Napomuceno ") was known. A report based on this novel film in 1997 received a first prize in the largest Brazilian Film Festival Festival de Cinema de Gramado (Festival de Gramado ). His narrative work has since been translated into more than ten languages.

Almeida founded the magazines Ponto & Virgula (1983-1987) and Aguaviva and is co-owner and director of publishing the Cape Verde publishing house Ilhéu.
